Article 1 (Purpose)
The purpose of this regulation is to establish guidelines regarding the review and review process of manuscripts submitted to the Korean Society of Manufacturing Process Engineers (hereinafter referred to as the “journal”).
Article 2 (Selection of the Associate Editor)
The Editor-in-Chief designates one associate editor to oversee the manuscript review process upon receiving manuscripts.
Article 3 (Manuscript Review Method)
Submitting a manuscript does not guarantee its publication in the journal; publication is contingent upon peer review, which follows a single-blind process and is managed through the Society's manuscript submission system.
Article 4 (Selection of Reviewers)
① The editorial committee assesses the academic scope of the submitted manuscript, adherence to manuscript submission guidelines, and the manuscript's quality level. If necessary, the committee may request revisions or recommend resubmission to the authors.
② The editorial committee consists of three reviewers, including one associate editor and two reviewers among the experts registered in the manuscript submission system or those recommended by the authors. The selected three reviewers oversee the manuscript review.
③ The same review process is applied to editors (committee members) submitting manuscripts. Editors shall not supervise the review of their own manuscripts.
Article 5 (Decision on Manuscript Publication)
① Based on the feedback from the two reviewers, the editorial committee shall decide whether to classify the submitted manuscripts as "accepted," "accepted with revisions," "require re-evaluation after revisions," or "reject."
② If necessary, an associate editor in charge may add or change reviewers.
③ The reviewer's decision must have a reason or explanation.
④ In principle, requests for re-evaluation by the author are not accepted.
⑤ The manuscript is eligible for publication only if it adheres to the research ethics guidelines of the journal.
⑥ Information on manuscript review shall not be published. Comments on papers published online are not allowed.
Article 6 (Exchange of Opinions)
During the manuscript review process, authors may exchange information and communicate with the editorial committee through the society's manuscript submission system.
Article 7 (Review Period)
① In principle, reviewers have 15 days to complete manuscript review. Authors can prompt a review or request changes if this period elapses.
② Reviewers shall be selected immediately after reviewing the appropriateness and ethical considerations of the manuscript.
③ If the manuscript review is delayed for more than two months, authors may request the withdrawal of the manuscript review.
④ In the case of "require re-evaluation after revisions," the revised manuscript must be submitted within two months. Otherwise, the associate editor in charge may cancel the manuscript submission.
⑤ The editorial committee cannot guarantee a shortened review period for manuscripts undergoing review.
Article 8 (Review Fee)
A prescribed review fee shall be paid to reviewers.
Article 9 (Excellent Paper)
① A published paper demonstrating exceptional academic merit, practical relevance, and applicability may be selected as an excellent paper.
② The editorial committee determines an excellent paper.
Article 10 (Confidentiality)
The associate editor and reviewers must maintain confidentiality regarding the manuscript under review and its review process.
Article 11 (Others)
Matters not specified in these regulations are subject to the editorial committee's decision.
